High Point’s Wrestling Team, led by Mr. Mike Lewis, placed third in the Walter Johnson Tournament last weekend!

The Eagles finished the tournament 7-1. Although the team would have liked first place, they were fine with third considering all the accomplishments they achieved. Going into the tournament the team had never beaten the host school Walter Johnson High School, but in their second match on Friday, they did it. They defeated Walter Johnson 32-31 with a match-clinching pin by 106-pound starter Nebiu Gebrehana, junior, en route to a 3–0 start.

The following day the team went 4-1 with a close win over Wootton High School. The team had never placed higher than sixth place before this year, and the Eagles hope to do an even better job next year.

Their only lost came to Paint Branch High School in the final match of the tournament.
